Leech therapy is mainly used in dogs, cats and horses. Hirudotherapy is applied in case of venous congestion and blood clots especially after surgery, orthopedic trauma, limb amputation and castration of males. More rarely they are used in case of dysplasia, inflammatory conditions or injuries [50].
